Using Langer's ImF method, we discuss the temperature dependence of nuclear fission width in the presence of dissipative environments. We introduce a low cutoff frequency to the spectral density of the environmental oscillators in order to mimic the pairing gap. It is shown that the decay width rapidly decreases at the critical temperature, where the phase transition from super to normal fluids...
متن کاملTransition from the superfluid phase to the normal phase in nuclei far from stability
The contributions of thermal quasiparticle correlations and of continuum coupling upon the superfluid properties of neutron-rich Ni isotopes are studied within the modified BCS approximation at finite temperature. The effect of thermal quasiparticle correlations is included using a secondary Bogolyubov-type canonical transformation explicitly involving the quasiparticle occupation numbers. The ...
متن کاملSpecific Heat in Superfluid and Normal Phase
The calculation of the 4He energy and specific heat is carried out in a wide temperature range within the two-time temperature Green functions approach. The approximation improving the random phase approximation is developed providing the correct behaviour of the calculated specific heat at the temperatures 0 < T/Tc < 0.65 and T/Tc > 1.32 where Tc stands for the phase transition point.
متن کاملPhase transition induced fission in lipid vesicles.
In this work we demonstrate how the first order phase transition in giant unilamellar vesicles (GUVs) can function as a trigger for membrane fission. When driven through their gel-fluid phase transition GUVs exhibit budding or pearl formation. These buds remain connected to the mother vesicle presumably by a small neck. Cooling these vesicles from the fluid phase (T>T(m)) through the phase tran...
متن کاملSuperfluid-normal Phase Transition in Finite Systems and Its Effect on Damping of Hot Giant Resonances∗
Thermal fluctuations of quasiparticle number are included making use of the secondary Bogolyubov’s transformation, which turns quasiparticles operators into modified-quasiparticle ones. This restores the unitarity relation for the generalized single-particle density operator, which is violated within the HartreeFock-Bogolyubov (HFB) theory at finite temperature. The resulting theory is called t...
